Telenet Group, the largest provider of cable broadband services and third largest mobile operator in Belgium, today announced it has launched the BroadForward BFX Next Generation Signaling Controller delivered and implemented by leading network solutions provider Infradata. BFX is a software based multi-protocol routing and interworking product designed to support signaling integration in and across 2G/3G, 4G/LTE, 5G, IMS, Fixed, Wi-Fi, Number Portability and M2M networks.
Telenet offers quadruple-play services consisting of video, broadband internet, and fixed-line telephony (VoIP) as well as mobile voice and data services to 4.9 million service subscribers. Last year’s acquisition of mobile operator BASE enables Telenet to move away from the current MVNO model and benefit from considerable operating synergies between their fixed and newly acquired mobile network assets. The implementation of the BFX Next Generation Signaling Controller enables Telenet to speed up time to market for routing and interworking across their Mobile (SS7/Diameter/ENUM), Fixed-Line (RADIUS) and IT (HTTP) domains, as well as significantly reduce cost for multi-technology, multi-vendor integration.
Luk Bruynseels, VP Mobile Technology, commented “Infradata and BroadForward bring us the signaling expertise and product capabilities that are vital for us, as one of the fastest Quad Play innovators in the industry. With BFX, Telenet will enable new services and perform service adaptations much faster, to the benefit of our customers. The implementation of BFX by Infradata gives us maximum control of our signaling assets”.
Infradata Managing Director Nico van Buitenen added “We are very excited to work with Telenet. They have a clear vision for service integration across domains, on the road to 5G. With BFX, we have provided Telenet with unrestricted access to legacy, IP and IT signaling technologies which are needed for flexible service creation. Infradata has years of experience with BFX and we have the unique expertise to deliver exactly what Telenet needs.”
